Re: Rolex
My old man has a submariner from 1967 (got it for his 21st) He says he has worn it about 10 times in total and is still in pristine condition in the box with receipts and certificates.

He won't sell as it was a present from his late Mum and Dad (my grandparents) Lovely looking thing which I will no doubt inherit (and won't sell)

Re: Rolex
Bought a Sea Dweller in 1990 and sold it 10 years later for what I’d paid for it.
Enquired about a new one this week and there’s a 2 year waiting list, hindsight is a wonderful thing.....

Re: Rolex
Hassle?

The submariner is an undeniable classic. Not fussed myself, but Tudor is the worst of both worlds imo.

Re: Rolex
Have a mate who deals used, mostly Swiss watches. Like Tudor atm, the Black Bay is like a cheaper Rolex-lite without all the hassle that goes with Rolex. Part of the Rolex company originally??

Re: Rolex
MATE only deals in the brand new Rolex releases... manages to nab them somehow (normally you go on a waiting list or something??)... all over my head if I am being honest.... I'm happy with my moody sekonda

Re: Rolex
Most people I know who are into fancy watches don't touch Rolex. Too populist and vulgar seems to be the prevailing mentality.

Hublot are popular, as well as perennial favourites like Patek Phillipe, IWC, Audemars etc.

Ulysse Nardin seem to be one of the main ones that those who wish to display their wealth are going for at the moment.

Says more about the people you know than rolex watches to be fair.

Stop hanging around with cunts.

Re: Rolex
All the people I know who have a Rolex have to tell everybody about it and how much it costs. Fuck all to do with telling you the time, they are saying I have lots of money, or at least more than you.....
